“Music is the social act of communication among people, a gesture of friendship, the strongest there is.” - Malcolm Arnold
Our Next Concert
Our Next Workshop
Brecon Singers are thrilled to announce that we will be holding a workshop for this popular and much loved Requiem.
Join us on Saturday 23 February 2019 from 11 - 4pm at Watton Presbyterian Church in Brecon for a glorious day of exploring this beautiful piece of music. Led by Robert Evans, who regularly performs as part of Harry Christopher’s The Sixteen, we will be looking at the intricacies of the Requiem and Robert will also be offering tips for vocal improvement. If you love singing the Fauré requiem or if you simply want to know more about it, please join us. Tickets are priced at £15 to include coffee, tea and biscuits. For more information, see our webpage Concerts and Workshops.
The Brecon Singers was founded as the Brecon Cathedral Singers in 1966 by the then Cathedral’s Director of Music, David Gedge, providing an opportunity for the people of Brecon and surrounding area to sing and perform major choral works and to augment the Cathedral’s choristers. Over these five decades, the choir has performed a broad repertoire of choral music including many of the major sacred works. Performances have taken place in Brecon, around the UK and overseas.
We have an open door policy to new members, young and not so young, who are always welcome – there are no auditions. All we ask for is a love of singing and choral music, enthusiasm and commitment to our rehearsals and performances. We believe in high and stretching musical standards, but we also very much believe in keeping the fun in music making.
Join us if you love to sing! We rehearse on Wednesdays from 7.30pm to 9.30pm in Neuadd Goffa at Christ College, Brecon.
