Brecon Singers would like to invite you to join us for our Mendelssohn Elijah Workshop. This event will be held on Saturday 24 February 2018 at Watton Presbyterian Church in Brecon. The event will begin promptly at 11 am and finish at 4pm. The church will be open for registration from 1030 am.
The workshop will be led by our Musical Director and Professional Singer, Robert Evans. Robert studied at The Royal College of Music. He made his London debut in 1987 at The Royal Festival Hall with the choir of The London Oratory. Having spent ten years in the choir of Westminster Cathedral (winners of the Gramophone Record of the year 1999) Robert moved to Salisbury, allowing him to concentrate on his freelance singing career, both as a soloist and as a consort singer working with The Sixteen, The Cardinalls Musick (winners of the Gramophone Record of the year 2010), Alamire, Tenebrae, The Kings Consort, and The Gabrieli Consort.
Tickets for this event are priced at £15. Music hire as well as coffee, tea and biscuits are included in the ticket price.
Registered singers will be treated to a session of vocal coaching including advice on breathing technique, invigorating warm-ups, and voice production. The workshop explores this amazing choral work and will look in more detail some of its movements. The schedule for the day is as follows:
